Instabrace
is an innovative wall brace designed primarily
for construction. The steel version
has two similar ends attached at the center by a hinge.
The brace is folded in half and is placed within the walls
while they are still being built on the “deck”.
The chalk line snapped at 84” is where the brace is
attached to the deck with (2) nails or screws. The offset
in the two pieces allows the top of the brace to be nailed
also with (1) nail or screw while it is still on the deck.
The nail hole in the top of the brace is already in the
exact location because the bottom is nailed precisely at
84” and the hinge is closed. After construction of
the wall and its sheathing is complete the wall is simply
lifted in its usual fashion. The brace will lock when the
wall is exactly level and a pin is then inserted in a pre-drilled
hole. The wall can not fall over forward in hoist eliminating
the threat of that disaster. Once up it will withstand any
weather short of a direct hit from a tornado. Instabrace
enables labor to be saved in 2 places. One; the crew does
not have to hold the wall steady while another man reviews
the wall with a level and adjusts the wall in and out then
braces it in the level position. Two; straightening the
walls with a string while up is virtually eliminated since
all of the braces are attached to the same line on the floor
thus putting the tops in a straight line. The next factors
are safety, reduced material cost and reduced material loss.
You not only attain added safety from the brace holding
the wall, but wood braces and floor cleats are full of nails.
Numerous nails are shot in with a nail gun unless they are
removed the piece is wasted. Many pieces are often discarded
due to the time it takes to remove the nails. Moreover,
nails left in wood cause injury and OSHA fines. The most
valuable quality of the Instabrace is the increased momentum
of the crew. Simply, the wall goes up, pin inserted, then
on to the next. There is nothing more important than utilizing
a crew to its fullest potential. The Instabrace optimizes
the crews rhythm and momentum.

Insta-Rail
The Insta-Rail attaches quickly to the Instabrace to create
a platform with a rail. The wall bracket slips into the
Instabrace then it is bolted securely through the InstaBrace
and bracket before a wall is lifted. Once the wall is stood
up planks are then laid across it. Quickly you've built
a platform to make building the second floor easier, safer
and more efficient. Eliminate walking
on walls to do layouts. Keep your crew safe. Eliminate the
